PIM DSCP marking

I'm trying to find out what PIM gets marked as in terms of IP precedence or DSCP. Can't find anything on CCO.

Does anyone know?

PIM adjacency is dropping when a link is congested so I want to prioritse the PIM keepalives.

Mar 22 09:49:09.712: %PIM-5-NBRCHG: neighbor 10.x.x.x DOWN on interface Serial0/0/0 (vrf default) non DR

Mar 22 09:49:09.796: %PIM-5-NBRCHG: neighbor 10.x.x.x UP on interface Serial0/0/0 (vrf default)

So is PIM marked by default?

If so what DSCP ?

If it's not what can I match on in order to classify it?

PIM messages are set to precedence 6 as most other control protocols.

If you do have QOS enable, make sure you reserve bandwidth for control protocols.

Do you know of any documentation to support precedence 6 marking on PIM messages?

Are PIM register messages also marked precedence 6?

Andrew,

I'm personally not aware on any such document but I would say that except for the PIM register message, which is marked as IP precedence 0, all PIM messages are marked as IP precedence 6, including the register-stop message.
