How do I set up ether-channel between 4507s

This should be simple, but it's not.

I have three 4507s; one is an edge, and the other two are core switch/routers. I want two cables going from the edge ( on separate blades) to trunk to each of the core 4507s. This would mean four wires leaving the edge, and two wires into each core. thanks

are the two gig ports meant to be in the etherchannel. if so can you send the config of the edge switch and the core switch it is connecting to

Also, I'm running version 12.2-25 on Supp IV, and all individual ports have same configuration (duplex, STP cost, etc)

Hi

you don't say what version of IOS you are running but attached is a link to config for 4500 etherchannel. This will apply to all IOS versions.

Is there something specific you are having trouble with ??

Hi Jon,

I should also mention my core switch's ports are configured "switchport mode dynamic desirable", so that shouldn't be a problem.

On my edge, I've got two ports configured

"switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,10

switchport mode dynamic desirable

channel-group 47 mode desirable"

"port-channel 47

switchport"

My gig ports are up/up, with one blocked by spanning-tree, and port-channel 47 is down/down.

Hi Jon,

Once I configured the core switch with etherchannel, everything came up. I mistakenly thought I could do one side independently. Thanks for your help. jc
