Hi ,

I have purchased Cisco6509 chasis and Ethernet 48 port module and GBIC fiber module as a replacement,Now I want to check the ethernet switch and gibic module by populating the Cisco 6509 switch,How to check the modules without SUP engine?

Without SUP engine,I f I power on the switch ,Will the switch port LEDS will power ON and OFF,or what is teh symptom I can notice while Powering ON the Cisco without SUP engine.

Please help me.

Hi Venkat,

No line cards will come up without a sup engine. Sup engine is the heart and brain of the chassis.

Without sup engine if you insert the line cards they are dump devices and will not come up.
