Hello,
when I check the collection status of the Iventory
(RME - Devices - Inventroy - View Inventory Collection Status)
Devices for which Inventory has never been collected.
an information will be display:
50 records (Device name = VLAN IP addresses of the core switches)
The core switches are
WS-C6509-E Software, Version NmpSW: 8.5(5)
Mod Slot Ports Module-Type Model Sub Status
--- ---- ----- ------------------------- ------------------- --- --------
5 5 2 1000BaseX Supervisor WS-SUP720-3B yes ok
15 5 1 Multilayer Switch Feature WS-SUP720 no ok
IOS (tm) MSFC3 Software (C6MSFC3-PSV-M), Version 12.2(17d)SXB11a, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)
cisco MSFC3 (R7000) processor with 458752K/65536K bytes of memory.
SR71000 CPU at 600Mhz, Implementation 0x504, Rev 1.2, 512KB L2 Cache
----------------------
When I delete the IP-addresses in DCR (DCR - Device Management)
the following comment appears
You are about to delete selected device(s)
These device records will be permanently deleted and will not be available to any application.
This would be fine and after I delete all VLAN Interface-IP's, they didn't appear anymore, but if I look the day after, the same IP-Adresses appear again.
Why does the VLAN interfaces of that devices will be discover as independently devices ?
I just downloaded some Device Updates, but nothing changed.
Thank you for any help
regards
Heiko

This is probably due to DFM. What version of DFM do you have on this server?

Hi,
Device Fault Manager 2.0.4

You will need to upgrade to DFM 2.0.6 or later (i.e. LMS 2.6). Once you have 2.0.6, you can modify NMSROOT/objects/vhm/config/inventorycollector/InventoryConfig.conf, and change EnableContainedDevDisc from true to false. That will prevent DFM from adding those extra devices to DCR.
