On sup 2 The ios Version is "disk0:c6sup22-dsv-mz.121-23.E2.bin"

Do i need to bring down the box or its hot swapable ???

You are running IOS on Sup 2 so the config will not be an issue if you have ordered Sup720 with IOS on it. Just back the Sup2 config on a TFTP server and put the config on Sup720.just check if all the commands and other features that you are runnin on Sup2 should be supported on the Sup720 OS.

If you dont have Native IOS on sup 720 then do the following:

1.Either convert the hybrid OS on Sup720 to IOS and use the above listed step for configuration.

2. Or you have to manaully config Sup720 for CatOS commands.

Both Sup720 and Sup2 are hot swappable but they cannot co-exist in the same chassis.So you have to put one sup in and take another sup out. please plan a schdeuled downtime for the same. Also check the release note for Sup720 to make sure that all the hardware modules that were running on Sup2 are supported with Sup 720.

Cat 4506 chassis doesnot support Sup 720.

If you havenot ordered Sup720 as of now then you shouldnt be worry about it.All the 6500 line cards are supported with Sup720. You must make sure that you order the Sup720 with the latest IOS that support your both the line cards. You should order the IOS which atleast meet the minimum IOS requirement. Please see the link below and check the minumum and recommended IOS requirement for your linecards. just make sure that order Sp720 with the required one.
