Hi,

Should I use the PIX failover IP address of the outside interface as the default gateway for my external switch?

For you to access your switch from inside? I don't see a problem with that.

Im not sure about the requirements of doing so. Also, if you configure the default-gateway to the failover IP of the Outside interface of PIX, this wont be a good idea because if PIX recieves the traffic on the Failover IP, PIX will not route that traffic. This IP is only used for failover communications between the Outside interfaces of PIX.
