Hi all,

i would like to upgrade catalyst 2950 with current IOS image c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA7.bin. But there is no command (archive download-sw) in current IOS. When I type "archive ?" i just get "tar List or extract files in a tar image" but in Configuration Guide here

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00804762a2.html#wp1086981 it says just the opposite. Any idea?

Thanks for reply.

Karl,

If you still dont see the command in there, it means that 2950 switches doesnt have support for the command.I will check it for you and will update on that.

You can always use " archieve tar " command to extract the .tar image and have the HTMl files installed on the switch. The syntax is :

Switch# archive tar /xtract tftp:/172.20.10.30/saved.tar flash:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat2950/12122ea5/2950cr/cli1.htm

HTH,Please rate if it does.

Karl,

You want to upgrade to c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA7.bin or is that the one you are running?

Starting with 12.1.22EA5 we do have support for the command. Command refrence tells the same:

Hi asingh2,

thanks for your quick reply. I want to upgrade from c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA7.bin to c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA9.bin. I upgraded manualy to c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA9.bin using:

copy tfpt: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Source filename []? c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA9.bin

Destination filename [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]? c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA9.bin

etc.... DONE

But after upgrade to c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA9.bin I can not still use command "archive download-sw /overwrite /reload" why? What can I do when i would like upgrade a .tar with httl files?

OK. Solved. When I used "archive tar /xtract tftp://10.251.18.61/c2950-i6k2l2q4-tar.121-22.EA9.tar flash:" it works perfect. Thanks.
