Cisco 4500 as VMPS Server

I'm planning to get Cisco Catalyst 4500 Series Supervisor Engine II-Plus

for cisco 4503 chasis. The main concern for getting this is implementing the VMPS as server.

However this supervisor engine comes with Cisco IOS and Cisco IOS does not support VMPS(only client) as server.

Is it possible to upgrade this IOS to CatOS for this switch. Any information will be appreciated

All the current supervisor engine on cat4500 only supports IOS.CatOS on Cat4000 is already EOL/EOS. There is no other sup engine on Cat4500 which will support the VMPS feature on IOS.

However, if you are looking for dynamic vlan assignment, you can use IEEE 802.1x feature on the switchports and have the ACS assign the dynamic vlan based on the user-ID's.Please see the link below for more info:

No You cannt upgrade it to IOS. Sup2+ only supports IOS and it cannot be converted to CatOS.VMPS server feature is not supported in Cat4000 IOS. It is however supported in Cat4000 CatOS.Sup2+ doesnot support VMPS server on it.
