NME-XD-48ES-2S-P modules in CISCO2851 routers

We received two CISCO 2851 router with a

NME-XD-48ES-2S-P in each router today. the NME-XD-48ES-2S-P does not supply PoE because the IP phones don't power up. We have received several CISCO2851 routers a few months ago with the same module NME-XD-48ES-2S-P (one in each) and they all worked fine except for these two that we just received. In these two new units everything works except PoE. I do not have a great detail about IOS version etc. of these two new units. I am getting those. Configs are similar when we compare the working units with these two non-working units.

Hi,

You need AP-IP module install in order to give power to POE Switch, then POE Switch give power to IP Phone.

Do you have AP-IP Module installed??? This is the part number:PWR-2821-51-AC-IP=

This Power module will be installed inside the router, so you wont notice at all by just looking from outside of router.

Here is the link how to install the AC-IP module:

Yes, as jolo says, you need the optional PS installed. If you do "show env" on a machine that has one, you will see like:

Fan 1 Running sucessfully

Fan 2 Running sucessfully

ILP Power Supply -Present

ILP Power Supply Status -GOOD

A router with the standard PS will show:

Fan 1 Running sucessfully

Fan 2 Running sucessfully

ILP Power Supply -Absent

Hope this helps, please rate all useful posts!
