Always Available Scenario

How would I go about ensuring our domain/web presences is always available to our customers? I have two internet connections in two locations, if our main one goes down I'd like internet requests to our web site to be diverted/redirected to our other site and not have the customer see any difference. The backend server stuff is already handled I'm just curious how my provider would accomplish this.

Anthony,

That can be done by Global Server Load Balancing. Site status is monitored, and DNS is changed to divert traffic in case of an outage.

Dave,

Wouldn't be BGP solution to run between

both sites (over private link) and to upstream ISPs a simpler solution ?

Of course in a case distance between the

sites is reasonable. I guess in your

solution there is a need in some sort of

sync over private link still exists to make

sure both sites are in sync. In BGP one,

customer would need to have only one webfarm

and one CSS at primary site.
