Cisco router--HP procurve duplex/speed issue

I have a cisco 3800 series router connected on the LAN side to an HP ProCurve 4000m switch. I can only get this connection to come 'up' at 10half (for speed/duplex) if I set both to auto, it negotiates to 10half. All other settings and the interface goes 'down' and will not come back up. I have tried new cables and other ports on the switch as well. Same issue. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Luke

We have the same issue, and we end up be leaving it at 10/half.. Can not explain why..

What HP firmware version are you at?

we are at Firmware C.08.03.... ROM C.06.01

We are at C.09.22, so it is not a firmware issue like I had initially thought.

Hi,

We are running a Cisco 3825 Router with the following configuration:

interface GigabitEthernet0/1

description $FW_INSIDE$$ETH-LAN$

ip address x.x.x.x 255.255.255.0

no ip redirects

no ip unreachables

no ip proxy-arp

ip route-cache flow

load-interval 30

duplex auto

speed auto

media-type rj45

negotiation auto

no mop enabled

!

... and the 4000m has the following setup:

Type: 10/100

Intrusion Alert: No

Enabled: Yes

Status: Up

Mode: 100FDx

Flow Ctrl: off

Bcast Limit: 0

.... hope this helps.

Hi,

you could try adjusting the carrier-delay time on the cisco box (under the interface config mode) after locking both end to say 100/Full.

Eg.

config t

interface g0/1

!Generally you want to raise the time

carrier-delay 4

Please rate if this helps.

Thanks

HH

I will give this a try, all other attempts have failed.

Thanks,

Luke

Sorry did not work. I ended up using a small gbit switch between the router and the LAN switch. All issues have been resolved, however, I do not like this solution.

Thanks,
