I have a gigabit switch port on a 3550 that I wish to limit the bandwidth down to 10 mb. Any recommendations on how to do this? I have tried the config below:
class-map match-any Internet
match access-group 100
!
access-list 100 permit ip any any
!
policy-map PoliceInternet
class Internet
police 10000000 1250000 exceed-action drop
But when I try to apply it to the gig interface, I get the following in the log:
%QM-4-CLASS_NOT_SUPPORTED: Classification is not supported in classmap Internet

how about this easy approach...hardcode the port speed to 10mb? but be sure that connected device is configured 10mb or auto-negotiate.

This is a switch and as far as I know, you can't simply hardcode the switchport speed or set a bandwidth statement limiting the bandwidth.
