Device Association Search

CCM 4.0(2a)SR2b, DCDirectory.

Is there a way to search DCDirectory for whose profiles are associated to a device? I've tried using the search feature within DCDirectory Admin on the following attributes:

ciscoatDeviceName

ciscoCCNatControlDevices

ciscoCCNatOwnedDevices

and searched for the SEPxxxxxxxxxxxx string with no luck. The data point in CCMAdmin is 'Controlled Devices', and in DCDirectory is 'Control Devices'.

The reason for this type of search is due to a shuffling of associations. I've got a user associated to a phone that was previously associated to another profile. I've got speed dials that have spontaneously appeared in the new user profile that weren't programmed in either user's profiles. I want to know where they came from and searching the CCM tables for the speed dial strings just points back to the currently associated profile.

Thanks,

Beau Benner

You can use Eudora,

In the Eudora, Go to Tools, Directory Service

Click on New Database

Give a Name for the Query "DCD"

In the HostName field, enter the IP Address of the CallManager

In the Port Number enter the Port Number as 8404

Click the Search Options Tag:

Enter the Search base as ou=users,o=cisco.com

In the Word-wise search filter enter the string (without quotes) "

(|(cn=*^0*)(uid=*^0*)(telephonenumber=*^0*))"

Click OK.

Make sure that DCD database is checked.

In the Query Box, on the left hand side screen, enter the user id, You can see the user properties, and then create your query.

OR (easiest)

Use DCD Bulk Export under DC Directory Administration.

For root DN:

/O=cisco.com

ciscoCCNatControlDevices is the property which store Device association info.

It will export a .txt file which u can use to perform your search.

Thank you Gonzalo. It's too bad Data Connection doesn't have a more elegant searching mechanism.

You need to enable dependency in the enterprise parameters and restart the gui of the call manager which will give you a good tool of knowing that device is associatied with what

The dependency records don't provide us with a reference to what user profile is associated to what device. If I want to know how many user profiles are associated to a device - using device name - the dependency records only display the DNs assigned to the device. The attribute search via the DCDExport tool that Gonzalo suggested allows for a quick and full directory search that finds all device associations that are and aren't intended.
