Cisco PIX Device Manager encountered loading errors

I just bought a used PIX 501 and after resetting it to the factory defaults I get this message when trying to access it.

"Cisco PIX Device Manager encountered loading errors. If PDM has informed you about a problem in your setup, please fix the problem and try again.

If the problem is related to disk access, you can click here to load PDM bypassing cache. If the problem persist, you can use "https://IP Address/nocache.html" URL to access PDM without the caching feature in the future."

I get this message after entering my username/password, accepting a couple SSL certs, and after a couple of new windows open.

I have another PIX 501 with my old server host and can access the PDM just fine, so I know it's not a config issue with my computer/browser.

I guess I could configure the PIX by hand, but I'm a Cisco newbie and I don't have 2 weeks to figure it all out.

One more thing, the PDM did not inform me about a problem in my set up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Permit Popups and cookies in your browser.

Might also be a problem with your Java version.

Thanks, but like I said I can access the PDM on my other PIX 501 at Godaddy just fine, so I know it's not a browser or java issue.

Hi Allantone,

This generally points to a browser issue. Are you sure both PIXes are running the same version of PDM? (Executing "show version" from the CLI prompt will tell you this.

If you can access the config via:


Then the PIX is configured properly and the http server is runing fine.

Next step is to check PDM version and verify java compatibality. Since you have another PIX running PDM, you know what version works :-)
