Hi all, when using call manager, how does it map the ip address to a phone number, does it do it by the dns name of the phone ?

Carl,

There are two ways:

1. Add the option 150 under the DHCP server configuration which is the TFTP server ip address and it will release an IP for the phone.

2. Add manually the TFTP server ip address under the ip phonbe network settings to get an IP from the DHCP server.

Once the IP phone has the IP address, you can go to the Call managers DN ( directory number) settings and add the phone number with the respective IP phone's MAC-ADDRESS.So the phone number is directly mapped to the Ip phones Mac-address.
