Hi Ali,

Yes your default gateway config is perfect for access switch as well as for users in vlan 100.

Best of Luck.

Hi Ali,

The IP default-gateway on the access-switch will be the IP address of the management vlan SVI of the core switch which is doing the inter-vlan routing.

Hi Ali,

Let me take an example and you can use in your setup

If your access switch as interface vlan 1 with an ip address 1.1.1.1 255.255.255.0 then you must be having one SVI for this vlan 1 on your core switch also like 1.1.1.2 255.255.255.0 so in this scenario your default gateway on access switch should be 1.1.1.2.

NOW I will make the ip default-gateway on the access switch belong to vlan 100 as the following:

core

int vlan 100

ip address 100.x.x.2/24

ip default-gateway 100.100.100.2

2)default-gateway for users in vlan 100

D/G: 100.100.100.2

3)QUESTION REGARDING L3 Ether-channel

*************************************\

I HAVE 4507R WITH 2 Sup:

2)WS-X4515

MODULES:WS-X4306-GB

I NEED 4 GIG AS L3 etherchannel to the Core, which ports u recomded to put on etherchannel?

am planning to put the following ports:

gig3/1

gig4/1

gig5/1

gig6/1

ur suggestion plz;what about the 4 gig ports on the 2 sup

regards

ALI

Hi,

1,2,3 is okay. Are you using stp?

You can use any of your gig for etherchannel. People choose them for their own sanity (standard), documentation, simplicity, availability, neat cabling :).

Your sup WS-X4515 has two gig each, The sup in slot 1 is primary while the sup in slot 2 is secondary. For etherchannel you only have a total of 2 gig both first port in sup.

Hi Ali,

Port channels using ports on different modules in same chassis is supported but instaed of using ports from all 4 modules you can use 3/1,3/2,4/1 and 4/2 again it is just a recommendation but you can design the way you want. Also run a command "sh port capability" and confirm if the ports on line card support etherchannel, it should but still you can confirm.

Because you have sup 4 in your chassis all 4 ports on supervisor cannot be active at a same time. Only gig1/1 and 2/1 will be active and once they go down 1/2 and 2/2 will become active.
