Installing new core 6509E w/ Sup720. On old 6509 an MSFC is used. THat is accessed by doing "session 15" cmd. Old 6509 is core/dist switch. It has wan ip addresses assigned.
Is the SUP720 config'd the same way? (ie, assign wan ip address) I dont see "session" cmd.
Thanks

Hello,
You need seesion 15 command on Sup to log into MSFC if you are running hybrid OS i.e Cat OS on Sup and IOS on MSFC. If you have the hybrid OS on Sup720 then you have the same access.
Check the software that you are running on the Sup720. Do a " show ver". If it is a Native IOS i.e IOS on both Sup and MSFC then by default you will be on the router. Both the Sup and MSFC have the same confguration mode and you configure all the L2 and L3 related service on the common IOS.
If you need to access Sup in native IOS do the following:
router# remote login switch

Hi
If u r having sup720 with native IOS then there is no need of session cmd.MSFC is a daugther card,so both the switch and msfc are using native ios there is no need for session command,as we have if we in hybrid to shift from catos to ios.
Thanks
