When to use virtual-template

Unanswered Question

I am working on a vendor's CCIE R&S lab workbook, and I ran into a situation where EIGRP was using authentication over frame relay. They said I needed to use a virtual template for the configuration. My question is, how do we know when to use a virtual template? I know that PPP over frame relay requires it, but where else would it be used in an R&S lab context?

Virtual template you can use in VPDN (virtual private dialup network), L2T, L2F, PPT (various tunneling protocols) where you deploy NAC/NAS and home gateway scenarios where users dialin to NAC and are athenticated through NAS to build a secure tunnel.
