6509E and Sup720

Hi,

Can you tell me what if any slots I have to place the following part numbers on either a 6509E or 6506E?

WS-SUP720-3B Sup 720 Engine

WS-6704-10GE 4 port 10GE

WS-X6768-GE-TX Fabric Enabled Line card

Hi Gavin

Primary supervisor goes into slot 5. Secondary supervisor (if you have one ) goes in slot 6.

The other blades can go in any other slots. Only on the 6513 chassis do you have to be careful where you place blades.

Hi Jon,

Just a small correction that the concept of primary and secondary supervisor will only when you have both the supervisors at a same time in chassis.

But if you have just one supervisor you can insert directly into any slot let it be 5 or 6.

So single sup can work fine in slot 6 also.

Hi Gavin,

SUP 720 should be placed only in slot 5 and slot 6 in 6 and 9 slot chassis.

So as you have 6509E and 6506E which is 9 and 6 slot chassis you have to place your WS-SUP720-3B Sup 720 Engine only in slot 5 or slot 6.

Rest you can place your other cards in any empty slots.
