Do we need interface IP or Loopback IP for configuring APS in the router?

Pl find the design attached..

we have 2 highend routers(7206). They both connected to ADM MUX which intern connected to the BSNL MPLS.

Automatic Protection Switching(APS) is to be configured on the router. So the question is do we need to use INTERFACE IP or LOOPBACK IP to configure APS.

More convention than anything else. It works as advertised. In our environment, our portect interfaces are on the same routers as the working interfaces, In yours it appears you will be protecting across routers. take a look at the following:

use the loopback in the aps protect statement.

Can you pl tell me the reasons for selecting loopback and reasons for not selecting the interface IP.?
