I know it's for the 1700 series but would the 1ENET WIC work in my 2620? I really need something with an rj54 connection that can be configured to work between my cable modem and my network.

Hi John
As per the CCO document Cisco 2600 supports NM-1E module by default.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps259/products_relevant_interfaces_and_modules.html
Also Cisco 2620 platform comes up with 1 network module slot platform it can accomodate NM-1E module..

the WIC-1ENET is not supported on the 2600 router>Refer here for the compatability matrix -

You 2620 has 2 ethernet ports, so you could use on to connect to the cable modem and the other would be your inside network.
