At a customer site we have a CME with to 7960 phones. When plugging a headset from Sennheiser CC530 to the headset plug it won't work when you plug it in the phone input it works. We have tried the following cables CSTD24 and CSTD08 but still not works. Does somebody has an idea whats the problem?

I would recommend calling Sennheiser technical support.

We are using "SENNHEISER CSTD08 BOTTOM CABLE" on 7960 handsets in our lab and they are working fine.
Can you confirm if you are definately using a CP7960 or CP7961 handset - I know someone in Sennheiser so can get advice from them if there are any know issues.

Spoke to the Sennheiser rep and checked their web site, the CP7960 handset uses the CSDT08 cable -
Final Headset solution for Cisco Systems IP Phones: 7960, 7960G
Headset Model: CC 530
Ultra Noise Cancelling Microphone
Flexible Microphone Boom
ActiveGard?
Balanced Side Support & Comfort Pads
2-in-1 Solution - Ear clip or Headband
The direct connection cable allows you to connect directly to the telephone.
Cable: CSTD 08
Comment: Has dedicated modular headset Jack.
Suggest you try the same cable on a different handset to make sure there is not a faulty headset socket, or try another cable. The same cable (CSTD08) works with 7961 and 797X handsets as well.

one more thing to check - make sure the headset has not been disabled in the phone config :
To disable the headset on a Cisco IP Phone models 7960G and 7940G, choose Device > Phone from the Cisco CallManager Administration application, locate the phone you want to modify, and check the Disable Speakerphone and Headset check box.

As an alternative to Sennheiser headsets, I can offer a PC headset or Mobile headset adapters. They work great with Cisco 7940/7960 phones.
