Solved: IOS startup

I have CISCO 2811 router. I have tried to change the sequence of router to load IOS on it.

I selected ROM first and then FLASH memory for router to load IOS.

But whenever I restarts the router, it loads IOS from FLASH only and not from ROM.

It gives an error msg. showing "unable to boot from ROM" .

I have tried with different register settings of the router.Router ROMis working properly as I can load IOS from ROM in the absence of FLASH.

Pls let me know if its a hardware problem or i am doing something wrong.

Hi

Rommon mode is used in absence of the valid IOS on flash.

The rom contains a lower verions of IOS used to troubleshoot booting problems.So in the presence of FLASH which contains the IOS it will not go to rommon mode.
