WAE Appliances in encrypted traffic

The Configuration guide mentions -

VPN is to be deployed after WCCP interception and that WAAS device should see only unencrypted traffic.

But it also states that the device provides limited TCP optimization to encrypted traffic.

How useful would a WAE device be in an encrypted scenario like client-gateway vpn?

Alan,

For TCP-based encrypted traffic, we're usually limited to providing transport (TFO) optimizations only. This is due to the fact that it's not likely that we will see repetitive chunks of data with most encryption schemes, which is required for our data suppresion technology.

If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

Thanks,

Zach
