We're bringing a 10 mb Internet connection into our WAN provider's Data Ctr. A firewall will sit on the Internet edge, of course, but we require a low-port-density layer 3 device to sit on the inside and route to our coporate WAN (static routing is sufficient). There are SOHO-type devices which provide a couple of 10/100 ports but I question whether they would provide sufficient throughput. An 8-port layer-3 switch would be perfect but doesn't seem to exist. I've considered a 1721 with the 4-port WIC card but, again, am unsure if the router would have issues with the bandwidth. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

There is a 3560 8 port Layer 3 switch that may be what you are looking for.
Cisco Catalyst 3560-8PC
8 Ethernet 10/100 ports with PoE and 1 dual purpose 10/100/1000 and small form-factor pluggable (SFP) port; compact form-factor with no fan
