shutdown interface when link down

hey,

i need the interface to go to shutdown status when it goes down.

i have 2 interface dialers that work in load-balance by cef. the problem is when i plug out one of the cables, i have packets lost. if i shutdown the dialer, it works fine.

Ok I dont want to get into troubleshooting this problem but it was an interesting qn u asked - jus try and see if this works

a) Create a Loopback interface on the router - a dummy one

b) Set the backup interface as the loopback

c) On the loopback set the backup interface as the dialer

If the dialer goes down, the loopback comes up and the dialer should automatically be shut. But trust me, I am kinda suprised y u need it - it may be a software bug after all

thanks, it was good idea.

however, i can't use it because the dialer interface doesn't have "backup" command.

i found the cause to the problem: the dialer is up even when the atm is down.
