translation pattern help

I need some help on what should be a fairly simple translation pattern.

If I recieve a number say 555-1212, I need to tranlate it to 31212. I am trying to distinguish between say 555-1212 and 524-1212.

How would I set the Called Party transform mask?

For that particular example just set the Translation Pattern field to 5551212 and the Called Party Transform mask to 31212, just make sure to set a CSS that can reach the partition of the 31212 extension.

I need to do this with wildcards. I should have stated that the 555 or 524 is what I am using to determine what prefix I need to add to the remaining four digits. So would that be something like transation pattern 555 Called party transform mask 3 and this would then translate 5551212 to 31212?

Well it depends on exactly what do you want to happen.

Let's say that all the extension that begin with 555 will be translated to extension that begin with 312, then you will configure the Trnaslation Pattern field with 555XXXX and called party transform mask will be 3XXXX

so two translations such that 5551212 and 5241212 become 31212 and 41212

555xxxx > 3xxx

524xxx > 4xxx

No, it should be like this:

555XXXX --> 3XXXX

524XXXX --> 4XXXX

This way if you dial 5551212 it will hit the 555XXXX translation pattern and it will transform it to 3XXXX, on each X it will match the digits from right to left, so the final number will be 31212.

-----------------

In your example what will happen is that you will match the 555XXXX translation pattern but the final number will be 3212 on the first example. Then on the secon one you will route the call after only receiving the 524121 and the final number will be 4121.

Hope this helps you understand the behaviour of the Translation Patterns.

What I am trying to accomplish here is to look at all 7 digits coming in and use the first 3 digits to determine what number to prefix the last 4 digits with before routing the call inside.
