Can anybody confirm whether it is possible to configure a single 2851 Router to support both MGCP and H323.

I have a 2 Port E1 card installed in the Router. The first Port is in use and configured for MGCP with a Call Manager 5.1 installation.

However another Pri E1 circuit has been provisoned with 10 Channels on the 2nd E1 interface. As MGCP does not support fractional E1 I would like to config this circuit as H323 while still maintaining my existing MGCP config on the 1st E1 interface.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes, you can use both MGCP and H.323 on the same router. Simply leave off the "service mgcp" portion of the pri-group command under the configuration for the new controller. So you would configure something similar to:

controller e1 1/0/1

pri-group timeslots 1-10

You can then create dial peers in IOS and a new gateway in CCM admin.

Hope this helps.
