CCM with H323 GW

hi

in case when using CCM with an H323 gateway, as H.323 gateways have the intelligence to place and receive calls, then how should we configure the whole dial plan (call routing, privilages,....) on this H323 or on CCM

if on H323 then do we have to configure on CCM any route patterns, lists, partitions and CSS's,...?

Just like you said you create RPs, RLs, RG, GW in CallManager along with CSSes, Paritions to contol the privilages of calling.

You still need to create Dial-peers on the GW. Check out this doc for CCM Route Plan:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_callmg/4_1/sys_ad/4_1_3/ccmsys/a03rp.htm#wp1024242

and this one on Calling Search Spaces and Paritions:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/c_callmg/4_1/sys_ad/4_1_3/ccmsys/a03ptcss.htm

HTH,

Chris

so the CCM will do the whole job of dial plan, then why to create dial peers in this h323 gateway?

what is the nature of integration and each one responsibility for CCM and h323 GW?

thanks

The reason is the nature of peer-to-peer pf H.323 protocol where CCM can not control the GW, but only pass the call along. So, when CM determines that a call needs to be directed to PSTN (via RP -> RL -> GW) H.323 messaging is exchnaged between CM and GW, the H.323 analyzes the dialed-number and in order to proceed with the call it needs to match a dial-peer witch matching destination-pattern.

MGCP on the other hand can be controlled by CCM and no additional "call control" is necessary on the GW.

HTH,

Chris

so according to route patterns do i need to configure all the route patterns that i have created on CCM additionally on h323 GW or just one general 9T wirh a POTS dial peer to route outbound calls to pstn will be enough?

and what about calling privilages do i need to configure CSS's and partitions on CCM and also COR on H323

or just enough to create CSS's on CCM?

thanks

Technically 9T should work, but it may cause interdigit timeout issues with certain numbers such as 911, 10 digit local, 11 digit long distance etc. So its recommended that you separate these patterns out as follows.

dial-peer voice 1 pots

destination-pattern 911

port 0/0/0:23

forward-digits all

num-exp 9911 911

dial-peer voice 2 pots

destination-pattern 9[2-9]..[2-9]......

port 0/0/0:23

forward-digits 10

dial-peer voice 3 pots

destination-pattern 91[2-9]..[2-9]......

port 0/0/0:23

forward-digits 11

dial-peer voice 4 pots

destination-pattern 9011T

port 0/0/0:23

prefix 011

You are right you will need to create route patterns in CCM and also on the router. You dont typically need to create COR in routers, if you have CSS restrictions on CCM.
