WEP with open authentication

I am a tech guy at a school district. We have some wireless 1200 Airnets installed. I want to set up my wireless that anyone can connect to them to use our internet, however I wish the transmissions to be encrypted. How would I accomplish this task?

I don't want to anyone that uses the wireless to have any special set up or knowledge of keys to work. I want students and guests to be able to connect to the wireless without my assistance, but I want thier transimissions to be encrypted. Is this possible on the 1200s?

Yes. This can be accomplished. There are several encryption types available. For this, 802.1x/LEAP authentication which uses the wireless clients username/password for authentication. This credential can either be entered when prompted for at the client side or it can be allowed to use the windows username/password login details to be the username/password for the wireless client also. I think the second option shuld be helpful for you so that user doesnt need to enter username/password separately. Once authentication is successful, the dynamic WEP keys are automatically generated at client and authentication server and data traffic can be encrypted using this WEP key.
