2620 in Home Lab

Unanswered Question

Just purchased a 2620 router for my home lab and I am unsure about vlans and trunking on this model.

I use 5000 and 6500 series routers at work which allow me to set specific ports as trunks. On the 2620 the fast ethernet port can't be set as a trunk and after doing some research I found I have to configure sub-interfaces for each vlan I want to route. The problem is this router came with the IP Base IOS image and according to my reading I need the IP Plus image to configure dot1Q/ISL encapsulation on these sub-interfaces. This router also doesnt have enough Flash/DRAM to run the IP Plus IOS image.

So my question is, is there another way to configure the port to pass vlans? What good is the IP base image if it wont let me do so?

Should I just purchase more memory so I can run the IP Plus image?

Any help is appreciated.

I have this problem too.
