smarter multihoming

Hi All,

My network is multihomed via BGP. I have run into a problem a few times (rare, but it happens) where one of my upstream providers goes partially down (ie the link to them is still physically up, but packets are being dropped in their network somewhere).

When this happens I have problems on my network because my router still sends out the problematic link but the packets never reach the final destination.

I am looking for suggestions on how to re-route around a partially-down BGP peer when this type of problem happens. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

Look at the IP SLA features to monitor connectivity and send alarms to manually or automatically reroute or change BGP dynamically.

Hope this helps, if so please rate post!
