PIX 515E Failover help

Hello everyone,

What is the best way to setup the PIX 515E for FO? I read that serial + ethernet is the best way to go, this seems to be what I want to do.

How do I go about setting this up in this manner? Thanks for your help. I get bad search results when looking on the cisco site, so I figured I would post here and save myself some grief.

Assuming you have Version 7 software, Cisco have it covered here.

As you state, serial heartbeat plus dedicated statefull link ( peferebly a VLAN ) is the best way to go. For this the two devices need to be withing 6 feet or so of each other.

Later versions of ASDM have a reasonable GUI, just make sure the hardware and software is identical, and also the encyption licences need to be the same.
