QoS SRR Question

Unanswered Question

Is the following port config valid? Specifically can the srr-queue bandwidth commands be used on an interface without enabling auto qos voip on the interface?

interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1

switchport access vlan x

switchport mode access

switchport nonegotiate

duplex full

speed 100

srr-queue bandwidth share 1 55 40 5

srr-queue bandwidth shape 30 0 0 0

mls qos trust dscp

no cdp enable

I have this problem too.

Absolutely - real engineers use the manuals, not auto-qos! AQ is just a macro that generates lots of config that most people that implement it don't understand...

Make sure you enable the required 'MLS QOS' command at global level however, or the interface commands will do absolutely nothing.

Also check your 'show mls qos maps' to ensure the traffic will end up in the correct queues, and I'm assuming you have the trust state set up for other ports as well?

Finally - you may not want this but 90% of people do... the 'priority-queue out' command will make your Q1 a priority queue (usually for voice) limited to 1/3 of the output bandwidth by your srr-queue bw shape' command.
