Measuring burst over time

Hi,

I'm a student at KHK Geel (Belgium) and i'm doing an internship at a small IT company. At the moment I have to work out a solution in a QoS-based datacenter. I wanted to ask if it's possible to measure if somebody is bursting over his capacity during a certain amount of time. Our clients must have a possibility to burst over a certain period of time, but after a specified time that possibility must be denied.

Example: Client A can burst 4 hours/day, if he exceeds this traffic will be dropped. Is this possible? Thx.

Does the 4 hours mean ---upto 4 hours anytime in 24 hrs

or

---from X'o clock to (X+4)'o clock

The client must have the possibility to burst up to 4 hours/day (anytime in 24hrs)

i dont think thats possible. Cisco doesnt measure the time a flow bursts. You might find other tools to do it.

but id be happy if someone can contradict me here..
