Live Call Monitoring

I am looking for a way to do live call monitoring on Cisco Call Manager. I am aware that a "barge-in" feature is available in IPCC but I am wanting to see if the same feature can be accomplished without IPCC. I am familiar with the same feature in the Avaya world where it is referred to as Service Observe and it is part of the base CM offering.

This is exactly what I am looking for. Please let me know where you are in this undertaking. We are at CCM 4.1(3) and looking for the same solution.
