tried clearing all the files from flash: except IOS file, but when reloaded still holds the old switch stack number. This can be changed from IOS commands but is there an cleaner way to achieve a factory reset?
The config is not kept in flash, it's kept in nvram. To erase the configuration type "write erase" and reload the switch. If you need to get rid og the vlans, you can delete vlan.dat from flash.
