Hi Guys,
What is the smallest Catalyst switch that supports NLB? Is it the 4500?
Thanks!

If by network load balancing you mean Server Load Balancing (SLB), the Catalyst 6500 is the only Catalyst switch that supports this feature.
More information on SLB is available at http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios121/121newft/121limit/121e/121e11/iosslb11.htm

Hi,
Yes I apologize, I was actually referring to SLB.
Thanks for the info!

NLB can use either multicast or unicast packets. So, pretty much any switch is capable of doing so.
Most of the caveats revolve around the affects of non-NLB hosts on that segment and/or the use of multiple switches.
NLB likes to hide its virtual MAC address from the switch, which causes the switch to broadcast in order to locate the appropriate MAC.

If you are specifically referring to MS NLB.
