Hello all

we have a problem with a VG224 Gateway. We connected it to our Callmanager

4.2(3) and configured some ports (MGCP). When we want to make a call from a

phone attached to the VG224 the destination phone rings and I can pick up the

call. However I don't get a voice connection. The call terminates and I get the

busy signal. After that I have to reboot the Port on the VG224.

What is the recomended IOS to run a VG224 on CCM 4.2(3)?

Has anyone a configuartion example for MGCP (and/or SCCP)?

Has anyone an idea??

Thanks Reto

Little confused - does that happen for all calls, or just some?

Make sure your analog devices are in a Device Pool with a Region that is G711 to everything. I have seen this before when trying to use G729 on analog

This happens to all calls on al ports of the VG224.

I can dial , the phone rings, pick up the phone the port on the VG224 disconnects and I get the dial tone (and have to reboot the port). This also happens in the other direction if I call a phone on the VG224.

Can you post the MGCP portion of your config? Do you have the command "mgcp fax t38 inhibit" in there?

mgcp

mgcp call-agent cmt1 service-type mgcp version 0.1

mgcp fax t38 inhibit

That's the mgcp part of our config.

Try adding the following lines and see how it goes...this is the config I had on a functioning VG224. Also, you may want to use the IP address of the CallManager rather than the hostname.

mgcp dtmf-relay voip codec all mode out-of-band

mgcp rtp unreachable timeout 1000 action notify

mgcp package-capability rtp-package

no mgcp package-capability res-package

mgcp package-capability sst-package

no mgcp package-capability fxr-package

no mgcp timer receive-rtcp

mgcp sdp simple

mgcp rtp payload-type g726r16 static

After you add and save the commands, reload the VG.

We solved one part of our problem. We loaded IOS 12.4.13 to the Gateway and applied the commands recommendes in the Release Notes for Cisco Unified CallManager Release 4.2(3)

? no mgcp fax t38 inhibit

? mgcp package-capability fxr-package

? no ccm-manager fallback-mgcp

Everthing works fine with G729b codec. If we switch to PCMU (G711u) we can make calls from the Gatway to a phone using G711. However if I want to make a call to a analog phone attached to the VG224 with G711 the phone rings. I can pick up the phone but the caller gets a ringing tone from the gateway.

Any ideas why G711 behaves like this??

Our Gateways work now with the following configuration

IOS: 12.4.8 (12.4.13 did NOT work)

Adding the following commands:

no mgcp fax t38 inhibit

mgcp package-capability fxr-package

no ccm-manager fallback-mgcp

And everything worked.

Thanks for your help and support.
