We want to be able to have our front reception staff be able to press a button and alert multiple people that there is situation going on in that area. We already have a 911 alert button that notifies emergency personnel, but want a ?lesser offence? service to just get extra bodies in case someone is causing a problem.
So far we have just added a second line appearance on a handful of users phones and have a speed dial button on the receptionist phone. Problem with this it the reception phone goes immediately to speaker and you then start hearing dialing as well as possibly someone answering ?hello, hello?. We?d like this to be a silent alert from the receptionist standpoint. Also it might be nice to do something other than go away from everyone?s phone after someone pickup up the call.
Does anyone have a suggestion of how better to do this?
Just to add a note to Brandons good info. We use a method exactly like your setup. We ask the user to quickly press the "Headset" button before pressing the Speed dial button. This makes it a completly silent connection in the Originating area. It is always helpful to disable the Speakerphone in Open/Public areas as well :)
Hope this helps!
