When I enable 128bit wep on the WLC I get the message

"WEP key size of 128 bits is not supported on 1130,1200 and 1240 AP models"

Why do these models (the models I am using !!!) not support 128bit wep ?? is there any way to make them support it. ?? they support it in AUTONOMOUS mode ?

Watch out with wep and key length:

a. 40 bit key + 24 bit iv = 64 bit Wep

b. 104 bit key + 24 bit iv = 128 bit Wep

c. 128 bit key + 24 bit iv = 156 bit Wep

In aironet you can select option a and b and that is a bit confusing because they say 40 and 128 in the options where 40 references the key and 128 references the total. Believe me count the hex numbers and you will see where cisco says 128 it should have been 108.

ex:

encryption vlan 20 key 3 size 128bit 7 741F07447BA1D4382450CB68F37A transmit-key

In airespace you can select option a and b and that is a less confusing because they say 40 and 104 in the options where 40 and 108 references the key.

Did you ever get a response why WLC 4404 can't do 128 bit WEP with 12xx, when autonomous APs can?
