TCP probe not working on CSM

Greetings

I have a CSM load balancing 20 apache servers configured as layer 2 servers. The probe in question is configured as shown below.

probe HTTP_WS tcp

interval 20

retries 0

failed 30

open 2

port 80

When we restart apache and the web application layer on the servers the HTTP probes return "Failed" on all servers, so far OK. But none of the TCP probes show any servers as failed. The status shown is "TESTING" through the entire restart and the operable, never failed.

Have I missed anything in the configuration of the probe or the servers.

Update

Some further testing provided me with an answer to my own question.

Though not noted in the manual it seems "retries 0" doesn't mean No retries, fail at once...as I thought but means unlimited retries.

Correct setting in my case should be retries 1.
