Its not actually the BGP keepalive period, its how long would a hit on the serial link have to be for the router to take the link down

I think that this depends in the interface keepalives period (10 seconds by default), kindly use this link to troubleshoot serial lines problems:

I think we are getting mixed up with the actual information i require.

Basically i am trying to distinguish if a local tail cct is taking hits, and they are <=50ms would a cisco router determined these as a drop , if not, what is that actual time in ms that a cisco router will recognise as a hit ?
