Ethernet Out of Band Channel

Hi,

I have a WS-X6348-RJ-45 module in Catalyst 6500 Switch. With IOS version c6sup22-jsv-mz.12.1-27b.E.bin, all the ports in this module are shown as "line is up, protocol is down". The links were up and working fine with other IOS.

I found a bug in this IOS which is CSCef23843. The description of this bug being :

" Occasionally, these modules might lose the ability to communicate over

the Ethernet Out of Band Channel (EOBC) and reset:

Can anyone tell me the problem is due to this bug only ?

Also can anyone tell me what is "Ethernet Out of Band Channel" ?

The EOBC is Ethernet Out of Band Channel, is a connection between all the cards on the switch for management purposes ( system messages, software download, etc.)
