CME, 'error update locale' when IP phone reset

cjrchoi11

Level 1

-2851 12.4(11)T1

-CME 4.0(2)

-7941 firmware 8.2(2)

when I reset (or restart) the 7941GE IP phones, always show shortly the message 'error update locale' just before boot up successfully.

Looks everything operational but want to know why I have this message. Any configuration in CME related to this message?

Thanks in advance,

Please enable "term mon" and "debug tftp-event" to see which files the phones is trying to download. Then you can download the appropriate locale archive from CCO, copy the files to the router, and configure tftp-server with alias (to support the directories in the filenames) so that the phone will successfully download the locale files.

Hope this helps, if so please rate post!

Please see under "voice register global" the parameter "authenticate register" is present.

It should be like:

voice register global
mode cme
source-address x.x.x.x port 2000
max-dn 20
max-pool 10
load 7942 SIP42.9-2-1S
load 9971 sip9971.9-3-1-33
authenticate register
mwi stutter
tftp-path flash:
file text
create profile sync 0060502054170362

That's because the phone is requesting its locale files from the TFTP server but does not receive them. Perfectly normal.
Also curious why are you running an extinct IOS and CME version ?
