Rick,

Thanks for pointing that out. Sorry, I overlooked the original post. Yes, it depends on the max-paths values to have the maximum routes for the same destination. As I know, max

paths in global ip routing table is 6 on most of the releases, however, its been made to 16 starting from 12.3 IOS train. So the original poster can have maximum 16 default routes.

What is the hardware you are using. It depends on what kind of router/hardware used. For example Sup720-3B on Cat6500 supports 192,000 routes.

Friend,

Do you want to know how many FIB entries are possible or how many default route entries?

I have successfully used 9 default routes and all the entries were there in the CEF FIB table. I couldn't find a document stating the max supported though

MS_OBELIX_NOD_R01#sh ip cef

The numbers will definitely increase if you have some links bundled using multilink

HTH, rate if it does

You give a very good answer about the maximum number of routes, but I believe that the original question was the number of default routes that can be used. Is the answer to that not the value of max-paths? max-paths traditionally has been 6 and I believe in some versions it is now 16.
