Hi,

I need to create VRFs in my network I am wondering about the transition.

My interface dont have any VRF configure on then. When I enable ip vrf, what will happen before I assing my interface into the correct VRF. Will they continue to forward traffic?

Hi there,

Can you tell us a little bit more about your topology and your needs.

BR,

Mohammed Mahmoud.

Hi there,

As an initial answer, A VRF table consists of:

* an IP routing table

* a derived Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF) table

* a set of interfaces that use the forwarding table

* a set of rules and routing protocol variables that determine what goes into the forwarding table

Accordingly all the interfaces configured with the same VRF can forward to each other, but not to other interfaces in other VRFs or to interfaces in the global routing table with no VRF asigned.

HTH, please rate if it does,

Mohammed Mahmoud.

Dear dominic.caron,

once you assing the interface to VRF it gone stop forwarding packets because the IP address that's already assign to such interface will be removed once u apply ip vrf forwarding XX, if you provide us with more details about ur case we can help u in such migration.
