Hi all,

I've configured a shared line using overlay. The phones (7912G, 7940G, 1960G) don't display any missed call as long as overlay is configured.

Does anyone have an idea what's going wrong?

Cisco Router 2811 with IOS 12.4(11)XJ2.

I solved the issue by myself and find a good workaround. I simple replaced the "overlay" with "overlay with call waiting".

Any missed call is now displayed.

The configuration of the example looks now

ephone 14

device-security-mode none

Good info. From time to time people complains about overlay buttons not showing missed calls but you're the first to find a workaround!

Hi Sven,

Like Paolo indicated, it is great to see someone post a fix for issue like this! 5 points from this end.

A word of warning about overlays and 7912s: You can lock these phones up if you overlay too many extensions on them. I've done it, but I probably had 6 or more lines. I don't know the exact limitation. I know that I fixed the phones that locked up (showing channels down) by removing a few overlayed extensions.

I know this is an old issue, but i ran into it today and was able to resolve it by by issuing the missed-calls [all] command on the ephone configuration of the affected phones. The customer confirmed that they were now seeing all the missed calls, even the ones on the overlay lines, on the phones. Here's a link to where i found the information.
