C4506 : flowcontrol send/receive

Hi all,

1. Why do we need to configure flowcontrol on interfaces.

2. Whenever we enable or disable flowcontrol y do we get the output as shown below, and y is it not removed from the config once the No command issued.

interface GigabitEthernet7/4 (both r on)

flowcontrol receive on

interface GigabitEthernet7/4 (both r off)

flowcontrol receive off

flowcontrol send desired

The ports on both ends of a Gigabit Ethernet link must have the same setting. Please visit the link below to clear your concept about why we use flow control.
