Hi,

We are designing a new core network with 4 routers, R1 till R4.

All connected with 10 Gig like following diagram

R1 ---- R2

R3 ---- R4

(it is a square as the links will not show up correctly after i post it)

R1 and r2 are also connected with a Different server farm via an 45xx

we where planning to use 6509 for all 4 core switches with Sup720. All switches are placed in different buildings where several vlans are connected to. R3 has a lot of traffic to handled, and most likely r4 is also going to have a lot of traffic to handle.

In this design we were planning to group r1 and r3 in a differnt VTP domain, in a different HSRP config, and using ospf than R2 and R4. In this setup R1 is the active one for the left part, R2 is the active one for the right part.

We will use Voip and maybe in the future streaming video (this is not for sure)

Is it advisable to use for the r3 and r4 and 45xx switch wit sup V-10Gig or not?

Why not?

R1 and R2 are going to be 6509.

Thanks
